AIDA International Master Instructor and PADI Advanced Freediver Instructor.
AIDA and CMAS International Judge.
Founding member of the oldest Freediving Club in Canada, CASM (Club d’Apnée Sportive de Montréal). Club President from 2005 to 2009, François Leduc has been on a continuous quest to promote and develop the sport of freediving beyond his community. In 2008, wanting to pass on what the sport had taught him as an individual, he co-founded AIDA Canada (national member of the Association Internationale pour le Développement de l’Apnée), together with William WINRAM (IUCN Oceans Ambassador, Ocean Explorer, Photographer Freediving world record-holder, Waterman, and Public Speaker).
His meeting with William developed into a partnership and a friendship that led François to contribute and support The Watermen Project, an NPO dedicated to ocean conservation founded by William WINRAM.
Since 2011, François has been diving with William around the globe, out of the cage with various species of sharks, expanding his own understanding of these apex predators. In 2012, he was invited to join an expedition to Isla Guadalupe, Mexico, to tag great white sharks for the shooting of IMAX Great White Shark 3D, as head of in-water safety.
Recognized for his capacity for leadership, strong strategic reasoning and sound analytical skills, François Leduc has worked for nearly 30 years in senior management positions in the Health & Fitness Club industry. In 2015, he decided to dedicate his time and energy to the development of freediving and his school, ApneaCity, while continuing to ensure the development of the sport on a national level as VP of AIDA Canada.
