Grab and Go: MIX UW Scooter Makes It Accessible

Grab and Go: MIX UW Scooter Makes It Accessible

November 24, 2017 | 03:50

We love tech. “Why don’t you marry it?” You may ask. We would if we could. Every once in a while, a piece of tech comes by that really tickles our fancy and we feel compelled to write about it. Whether it’s new TUSA gear or the world’s lightest diving equipment, we’re all about the things that make getting out into the water even more pleasurable than we all already know it is. This is why we’re totally stoked about the Sublue Shark MIX UW Scooter.

This is it. It’s convenient, powerful, and can fit in a carry-on bag. Years of research and development have led to a product that has the power of the bigger machines yet the accessibility of, well, there’s nothing to compare it to. This is a one-of-a-kind device that, for the first time, allows divers and snorkelers to travel at blazing speeds without having to do too much planning ahead for the trip.

As a side note, I’m not being paid to write this, and nobody told me to write it. It’s just cool.

If you’re anything like me, you have your lazy moments, days, or years, and the thought of hauling extra gear to the water leads to anxiety that is unnecessary for the days where you just want to relax and explore. This is the perfect tool for people like us.

The MIX project began to take flight earlier this year with an Indiegogo started by Sublue Tech, creators of other popular underwater products such as the Shark Mini and Shark Max underwater drones. As of go-time for this writing, they’ve raised $162,813USD, which is 509% of their goal. From funding to fruition, they’ve gone above and beyond in style and delivery. Deepblu got a chance to check out the Shark MIX at DEMA Show 2017 and we were impressed by the fact that something so convenient could also be so powerful. The scooter reaches speeds of 5.5 kilometers per hour and can reach depths of nearly 40 meters while still performing at full capacity. In addition, it has neutral buoyancy, so if you let go it won’t be lost to the deep.

What’s even better? The price tag. The scooter is set to launch at $699, lower than several other high-end products on the market. There’s a great trend now of making products that allow aquatic sports to be accessible to everyone, and the Shark MIX fits that trend. Furthermore, the product is ready to go in time for the holidays, and will begin shipping on December 15th.
