This young male whale shark was swimming along the coast of Maamigili marine protected Area in the South Ari Atoll In the Maldives on the14th february 2015. Whaleshark are found there all year around. They are thought to come here to warm up along the shallow reef of the atoll after feeding in the deepwater that are found on the outer reef.
Within the whalesharks spotted there, only 5% are female the reason is unknown. And that's why we also love this mysterious giant. :D
