We dive around Gili Tepekong and Mimpang in Amuk Bay from a Jukung (departure from Padang Bai). We usually add one more dive at Secret Jetty, Ferry Chanel, Gili Biaha or any other dive site in Padang Bai. Note that Gili Tepekong, Gili Mimpang, Gilia Biaha and Ferry Channel are for experienced divers only. GILI TEPEKONG: Strong currents coupled with superb marine life and stunning hard and soft coral makes this dive site an unforgettable experience. You can dive on various sites around the island depending on the conditions. You can see great walls, and have an amazing swim through a canyon. There are many caves, some with reef sharks and several huge boulders from the cliffs above which create an underwater aisle. You may also find many fish feeding and sheltering from the currents. GILI MIMPANG: The topography of Mimpang is diverse, with sloping reefs, craggy rocks and walls all with hard and soft corals and some gorgonians. Big schools of fish often are swimming at the upper parts of the reef. Gili Mimpang is one of the best dive sites in Bali to see sharks, mainly white tip reef sharks. It is also a good spot to see the rare wobbegong shark, the very rare coral cat shark as well as the world famous Mola Mola (oceanic sunfish) during the right season (August to October) because there is a cleaning station for mola-mola. Large pelagic fishes like trevallies or tuna are often see there too. The visibility is here around 30 meters.

The Discover Scuba Diving Course takes one day and includes a brief theoretical course (all you need to know before your first dive), a practical course (basic skills to practice in a pool or in shallow water) and 2 dives for beginner (max 12 meters depth) in the Ocean with your diving instructor. This sacred water palace was built in the early twentieth century by the last king of Karangasem. It boasts many decorative ponds and fountains, lush plant life and natural bathing pools. Amed is located 2:00 drive from Sanur but it's a beautiful road, with Ocean View almost all the way, Rice-fields and Volcano at the end. We dive there in the warm and clear waters of Bunutan, the Pyramids site (40 artificial reefs full of life) and of the Jemeluk wall, a steep drop off (80m), where you will be astonished by the abundance of fish from macro size to much bigger ones. You can often see much larger pelagic fishes passing by in the depth of the drop off. PYRAMIDS: called “Ghost Bay” as well, is a collection of artificial reefs in form of Pyramids, 20 meters deep, created by the local community, 20 years ago, after the passage of El Nino. The JEMELUK Wall dive site is located on the right of the bay, it takes about a 5 minute boat ride (Jukung) to get there from Amed beach. The wall is very beautiful with nice coral and beautiful gorgonians.It’s truly a beautiful spot to watch the hundreds of colorful anthias surging out from the gorgonians in to the current. BUNUTAN is located at a 10 minutes boat ride from the main beach on Amed/Jemeluk. It’s a beautiful dive site with gorgeous and healthy reef. The dive starts with a gentle sandy slope that drops you down at 12 meters to an impressively large numbers of graceful Garden Eels. With good clarity and sunlight they look absolutely breathtaking. Continuing the steeper slope and probably drifting, you will find huge sponges, blue spotted stingrays, beautiful pink gorgonians, morays, giant barracudas, pygmy seahorses, unbelievable quantities of reef fish and, frequently, black tip reef shark. The macro sea life is also abundant: Nudibranchs, pygmy seahorses and other macro critters. Water temperature is normally around 28°C but the up currents can drop the water temperature. Visibility is usually good (18-25m) although sometimes the thermoclines makes the water blurry. This dive site is perfect for newly certified divers as the water is calm but the underwater marine life still beautiful and charming. We will start the day by picking you up from your hôtel or villa, take you to the dive center in Sanur to try your equipment and make sure that this one fits you well and then head to Amed. It is a 2 hours drive. There, we will get ready and you will dive from the shore or from a Jukung depending on where you wish to dive . We dive around Nusa Penida from a speed-boat (departure from Sanur Beach). We dive there with the majestic Mantas at Manta Point (weather permitting), on Crystal Bay and Mangrove/SD Point or Toyapakeh (wonderful drift dives). The water is very clear and considered among the best visibility around Bali. These rich waters around the islands support no less than 247 species of coral and 562 species of fish. Nusa Penida is also great for hard and soft coral with many gorgonian sea fans along the steep walls. The Mantas are visible from the surface and their encounter is an incredible experience for snorkelers as well. This dive site is for expereinced divers only as the water can be a bit rough and challenging. Amazing marine life such as Mola Mola and Manta Rays will make your dives there unforgettable. There, we will get ready and you will board the speed boat for a 30 minutes ride on the ocean to reach Manta Point for a first dive. The Open Water Course is the first autonomous certification level. To become an Open Water Diver, you must be a good swimmer (able to do a 200 meters surface continuous swim) and comfortable in the water. The Open Water Course takes 3 days and includes: - Theoretical course - Practical course (pools sessions and practical sessions in confined water) - 4 Open Water Dives (2 dives per day) - Theoretical exam After having successfully achieved the practical course and final exam, you will get your Open Water Certification. You will be recognized worldwide as an autonomous diver (18 meters maximum)! The amazing underwater world will be open for you and you will get the key to enjoy it with a buddy, certified diver like you. Schedule of the Open Water Course in 3 days : In the scoop of an Open Water Course we do the practical course (pool sessions) and the theoretical course the first day, and then the next days we do 2 dives per day + theoretical exam the last day. We are based in Sanur so we usually do the pool and class here in Sanur and then day 2 in Tulamben and day 3 in PadangBai (or inversely) so our students can experience both shore diving (in Tulamben) and boat diving (in Padang Bai). But it is also possible to do the day 2 and 3 in Tulamben with one overnight there (to minimize the time spend in the car to reach the dive destination). The Advanced Open Water Course takes two days and include 5 Adventures Dives. Usually our instructor would recommend to do peak performance buoyancy which is a must to improve your buoyancy underwater and deep diving (that will allow you to dive until 30 meters depth) and to choose between the Adventure Dives below the 3 that you might prefer: - Wreck Adventure Dive - Compass Navigation - Night Dive - Photography - Fish Identification - Nitrox 32 - Drift dive If you choose PADI you must do the Navigation dive where as with SSI you can choose the Adventure Dive that correspond the best to you. Usually we do three dives in Padang Bai and 2 dives in Tulamben the next day. But if you want to do the night dive, we would do first two dives in Padang Bai and then 3 dives including one night dive in Tulamben the following day if you want to do the night dive on the Liberty Wreck. The way we structure our course actually depend on the Adventures Dives you are interested in. For instance, the Wreck dive can be done in Tulamben only, whereas the drift dive can be done in Nusa Penida only.

You already feel like a fish in the sea? You want to look after the safety and wellbeing, of not only yourself but also of other divers? Then, the next crucial step for you is the Rescue course which deals with diver stress, accident prevention, and management. “Nico Dives Cool” makes it seriously fun! The Rescue course will teach you about diving first aid and emergency management. With this course, you will be able to help prevent problems and how to deal with underwater problems, using a variety of techniques. Missing diver procedures and how to lay out an emergency plan for a dive site will become easy for you. Your driving instructor will teach you how to respond to a panicked diver and how to surface an unconscious diver. You will practice 10 rescue exercises in both the pool and the sea. You will complete the course with 4 different accident scenarios which will definitively build your confidence. Considered as the third level for PADI, this program is a Specialty Program itself for SSI. This is why for SSI there is no obligation to do the Advanced Adventurer Course previously. To become level 3 SSI, you must have 24 or more logged dives and complete 4 Specialty Programs. Prerequisite / required prior condition : To get the internationally recognized Rescue Diver certification card, you must complete successfully the SSI React Right Course or PADI EFR Course prior to the Diver Stress and Rescue Course. Duration : You need one day to pass the React Right / EFR Course which is a nondiver Course.
